Product analysis:
HBM5020 is a high-density polyethylene with high molecular weight and narrow molecular weight distribution. It is specially developed for small blow-molded bottles. HDPE 5020 is recommended for a multipurpose blow molding process. This grade, which is produced by 1-hexene as a co-monomer, comes with 0.950 (g/cm³) density, and its high load melt flow index (MFI) is 22 (190 °C/21.6 Kg). It is available in the form of granules (pellets) and contains antioxidants as additives. Its Harmonized System code is 39012040. Arya Sasol Petrochemical Company produces this grade under Basell license.
- Melt temperature: 190-220 °C
- Extruder barrel temperature: 170-200 °C
- Processing method: Extrusion blow molding, Thermoforming
- High tensile strength
This noteworthy feature means the material can withstand high levels of stress and loads under stretching or pulling forces without breaking or failing. It allows for the use of less material while maintaining high performance.
- High elongation
It shows that a material maintains integrity under varying loads and stresses without being significantly stretched and deformed. It can absorb energy from impacts or sudden stresses while resisting punctures and tears.
- High stiffness
It refers to the polyethylene’s rigidity and high molecular weight. Polyethylene with high stiffness can bear its shape under loads and is less prone to warping or deformation under stress or temperature changes.
- Very good ESCR
Environmental stress crack resistance is a crucial property for materials. It represents polyethylene’s resistance to cracking under tensile pressure, chemical exposure, and environmental conditions. This feature allows better outdoor performance while assuring quality and durability.
- Good chemical resistance
It shows the ability of polyethylene to maintain its physical and mechanical features in contact with various chemicals, solvents, acids, and bases. Without significant changes in form, loss of strength, or alteration of its surface properties, it can withstand a wide range of chemicals.
- Sufficient impact strength
That means the materials made of this polyethylene can absorb and withstand forces or shocks without breaking or failing. It is a vital feature for applications that constantly encounter sudden impacts or stresses during use or handling.
- Good processability
HBM 5020 can easily and efficiently be transformed from its raw form into finished products through various manufacturing methods. It requires less energy and time while producing consistent, high-quality results.
The HBM 5020’s unique properties make it suitable for various industries that require high-performance HDPE products. Its high stiffness and chemical resistance make it a good choice for packaging consumers such as making bottles, caps, closures, crates, pallets, bins, and hazardous goods such as fuel tanks. In agriculture, it is used to make irrigation pipes, drip tapes, greenhouse films, mulch films, and silage bags. In the construction industries, it is used to make geomembranes, geotextiles, drainage pipes, water tanks, and manholes. It is also utilized in bumpers, dashboards, and interior parts.
